The Innkeeper

Thistledown's hostess, Sheila Tymon, is a mother of adult sons, and she teaches environmental science at Morrisville's High School. On warm weekend afternoons, Sheila offers occasional beekeeping workshops ranging from seasonal hive management to candle making. Her recreational activities include kayaking, snowshoeing, xc skiing, and autumn hikes. If you're lucky, Sheila's mother, Ann Tymon, may pop over to visit and this would be a treasured delight.

A Word from Sheila about the B&B Workshop Offerings...

"In addition to providing you with a comfortable and beautiful home to enjoy, delicious wholesome food, a great cup of coffee, and my sparkling personality, I offer beekeeping workshops and Reiki.

I have a Masters plus 60 post-graduate credits in science education. I've been teaching since 1981 and currently teach AP Environmental Science and Earth Science at Peoples Academy. I am increasingly interested in energy healing.

 

BEEKEEPING WORKSHOPS: $35/hour - all materials provided.

I've been a backyard beekeeping hobbyist for 20 years. It's my zen. When I'm with the bees, I'm with the bees and not thinking about my to-do list. 'Be here now' as the saying goes. (I know, bad pun.) I've mentored many beekeepers and have conducted a variety of workshops including: Equipment and Tools, Diseases and IPM, Seasonal Management, and Honeybee Biology.

On a warm sunny summer afternoon, I can get you suited up and you can meet the bees in their hive. In less favorable weather we can watch them from the outside and I can teach lessons using videos, hand-outs, tools and equipment, and PowerPoint lecture.

I also offer natural beeswax crafting. You can make your own natural beeswax candles and lip balms with essential oils. Materials provided.

REIKI - by donation

It is a gift to me to be able to give Reiki. I'm a certified Second degree of the Usui System of Natural Healing practitioner and Level 1 certified in sound therapy. Reiki energy stimulates your Inner Healer, that part of your Self that knows exactly what you need to be healthy. Reiki is guided by Spirit, is rooted in Love, has Divine intelligence and is gentle.
